Questions

What is a purchase order?

A purchase order is a document a buyer sends to a supplier to order goods or services. It lists the items, quantities, agreed prices, delivery date and payment terms. Once the supplier accepts it, it works as a binding agreement for that order.

What is the difference between a purchase order and an invoice?

The buyer sends the purchase order before delivery, to place the order. The seller sends the invoice after delivery, to ask for payment. The invoice should quote the PO number so the buyer can match the two.

How do I number purchase orders?

Use a simple series such as PO-001, PO-002 and so on. The maker numbers them for you and counts up each time you start a new one. Never reuse a number, so every order can be traced.

Is it really free?

Yes. Every template, every download format and every feature in the builder is free. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many documents you make.

Where is my information saved?

Only in your own browser on this device. We never upload your business details, customers or prices. Download a copy of anything you need to keep.

Can I open it in Word or Google Docs?

Yes. Download the Word file and open it in Microsoft Word, or upload it to Google Drive and open it with Google Docs. The Excel file keeps live formulas for the totals.
