Pricing tips for movers
Set a minimum
A two or three hour minimum makes small moves worth sending a truck.
Charge for access problems
Stairs, elevators and long carries slow the crew. Ask about them upfront and price them in.
Offer packing as an add-on
Full or partial packing is good margin and saves time on moving day.
Questions movers ask
What is the difference between a binding and non-binding moving estimate?
A binding estimate is a fixed price for the listed inventory. A non-binding estimate is your best guess and the final price depends on actual time or weight. For interstate moves in the US, federal rules set out how each type works.
Should I charge for travel time?
Most local movers charge travel time between the shop and the job, either hourly or as a flat fee. Say which on the estimate.
Do I need to mention valuation coverage?
Yes. State what liability coverage is included and whether the customer can buy more. It avoids disputes over damaged items.
Is this template really free?
Yes. Fill it in online and download PDF, Word or Excel as often as you like. There is no sign-up, no watermark and nothing to install. Your details stay in your own browser.
